JUTE INDUSTRY OF BANGLADESH: CURRENT STATE & GLOBAL DEMAND

Abstract

Jute is Bangladesh’s one of the main cash crops. Jute has a huge contribution in Bangladesh’s economy. Jute plays a vital role in the agricultural, economical, industrial, commercial and international sectors. As the world is moving into eco- friendly products to reduce pollution for a healthy nature, jute has a huge demand for this purpose in the international market. Jute and jute products contributes in Bangladesh’s national income every year through exports. Jute is called the ‘Golden Fiber’ of Bangladesh. However, this important industry is still facing often vicissitudes in various fields, such as; lack of updated technologies, low quality seeds, low productivity, lower wages to farmers, lack of agricultural knowledge, closing of jute mills etc. that cannot keep the industry stable for long and soon may cause tougher to survive in the international market. On the completion of through literature review, we will conclude the paper by recommending solutions to improve and expand its export.
