An Approach to Design a Sustainable Supply Chain: Future Non-government Investment in Jute Industry in Bangladesh

Abstract

This research focuses on designing a robust supply chain for the jute sector of Bangladesh, so
that all the existing issues get mitigated as well as private investors get attracted to this sector.
Besides, the paper tends to rank the issues according to their intensity. From Bangladesh Jute
Research Institute (BJRI) reports, records of Bangladesh Jute Mills Association (BJMA), and
Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation (BJMC), several national and international journal data
were collected and after analyzing data were ranked with the Analytic hierarchy process (AHP)
calculator. Bangladesh being an agricultural country, development is impossible by ignoring
the agricultural sector; industrialization is also necessary to keep abreast of modernization.
Ensuring balance among all the essential departments of the jute supply chain and creating a
bridge between agriculture and industrialization, this paper shows a bright future for the jute
sector in consideration of non-government investment.
