Abstract

As online food delivery erupts in Bangladesh, securing food safety has become a pressing concern, as digital platforms promptly reform consumption patterns. The study investigates Bangladeshi youths’ perceptions of food safety in online food delivery by examining the key influencing factors, their level of concern, and how these perceptions shape purchasing behavior, while also considering post-COVID-19 effects on current behaviors and future expectations. A cross-sectional survey was carried out using a structured questionnaire released via Google Form, where 402 valid response was included to evaluate using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, Chi-square test and logistic regression to employ for evaluating food safety perceptions among Bangladeshi youth. The results highlight that hygiene certifications, packaging sanitation, and delivery practices significantly influence trust, whereas demographic factors and COVID-19 experiences assemble perceptions and decision-making. The study indicates that perceived food safety clearly affects the risk of foodborne diseases, driving online food choices, and delivers insights for policymakers and service providers to improve safety measures and reduce health risks in Bangladesh’s rising food delivery sector.
